“Celebrating July 4th “
July the Fourth is upon us and I am really looking forward to the day. It is a time to celebrate the birth of our nation, and most of all, to give thanks to our forefathers based this nation on Christian principles. Not every one of the founding fathers was a committed believer, but even those who were not understood the power and influence of the Word of God in guiding a nation to become great. They would be impressed to see how great and powerful a nation the United States has become, but they would be saddened to see how far we have drifted from the ideals that they had begun with. To be a ‘nation under God” means that we accept the principles set forth by God in His Holy Word; and live our lives under those principles. As we look at our churches today it is easy to see why our nation has become a secular based country and not a biblically based one. The church is no longer distinctive in its life style from that of those around it who are lost. Our moral values and behavior too often are identical to those of unregenerate people around us. If we are to really celebrate this Fourth of July it should be by celebrating and giving praise to the God who created us and aided us when our nation began. To truly worship Him in the way we live our lives seven days a week, not just Sunday morning and I pray that all of us will seek first His kingdom and His righteousness. CEM.
